Best of the Best
As a Geek if you could not have a TARDIS, then the next best thing was a Stargate! If you are a fan Eugenia and Gerri have a treat for you! In this episode they discuss the many incarnations of Stargate from the film to SG1 to Universe! They discuss the strong characters that appeared in this franchise and that were not only limited to the men! Many films do not make a good transition to the smaller screen, but Stargate was one of them, it was full of humour, did not take itself seriously and allowed us all to think that it could be one of us. Eugenia and Gerri have a treat for all the fans of the franchise with not only one, but three interviews from icons from the show. The inimitable Gary Jones who played Walter Herriman, the “Gate Guy” who is the one that takes us to all three incarnations of the franchise, then Teryl Rothery, Dr Janet Frazier, the one that we lost and who could “kick-ass” any medical condition that came her way and finally the “Woman in Charge” Torri Higginson, the first non-military leader in the franchise. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank, Carissa, Rand and the crew of OZ Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com for their interviews with Teryl and Torri and Darren and Jason from Gifts for the Geek, www.giftsforthegeek.com.au for the interview with Gary. Enjoy this very special episode.
Has Sci Fi finally made it into the mainstream? In this episode Gerri and Eugenia talk about the Arrow. This show is about a human superhero, no special super powers, showing us what commitment and effort can achieve. With the newest incarnation being very dark and a flashback in each episode we have the past and the future of what makes and what happens when a superhero takes on the world. Arrow’s interesting characters with some of them even female, strong, purposeful and funny with one as the geek and the other The Black Canary. One thing that is nice to see in this show for Gerri and Eugenia is the Australian accent! In this episode they have an interview with Manu Bennett, otherwise known as Slade, done just before Manu took on the role. Born in New Zealand, grown in Australia (it is just across the pond) they claim him anyway! Thanks to Culture shock events, www.cultureshockevents.com for allowing Gerri and Eugenia to interview Manu.
Eugenia and Gerri talk about Buck Rogers. Buck has a long history first appearing in 1929 in the Science Fiction magazine Amazing Stories. So, why are they talking about an 85-year-old hero? Set in the future in the year 2419, Buck has been influencing heroes since his first appearance! Eugenia and Gerri discuss how this hero has changed over the years, how the changing times have influenced the presentation of women, and how they changed from screamers to leaders. The 1979 - 1981 “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century” television show is the one that they discuss in this episode. As regular listeners you know that Eugenia and Gerri love to interview actors from iconic television shows and that happens again in this episode and it is non other than Colonel Wilma Deering, who of course is the beautiful Erin Gray. So, sit back and enjoy! Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank Scott Liston from First Contact Conventions www.firstcontactconventions.com.au and Gifts for the Geek www.giftsforthegeek.com.au for the opportunity to interview Erin.
Doctor Whoooo Hoo, Hoo, Doctor Who!!! Yes, Gerri and Eugenia are talking about Doctor Who again. However, this time it is from the perspective of the Daleks. Do they think that they are the best villains invented in the genre of Science Fiction or not? Have they stood the test of time particularly for the 50 years that we have seen them? In this podcast you get a plethora of Daleks with The Voice of the Daleks Nicholas Briggs and the man inside Davros, Terry Molloy. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank the fantastic Robbie and Sandy from Culture Shock Events for the interview with Nicholas Briggs , www.cultureshockevents.com and for Terry Molloy, Supanova Pop Culture Expo www.supanova.com.au and www.lionelmidfordpublicity.com the wonderful Daniel and Lionel. Without all of these people who allow us to interview amazing guests you would just get to listen to Gerri and Eugenia so please support them, really please support them.
Every now and again a show comes along that is a little bit different! Sometimes it is the premise or sometimes it is innovation with new technology, Sanctuary was ground breaking in that it sought input from the Sci Fi community before the show was even aired and then was released for free on YouTube before being picked up by the then Sci Fi, now Syfy channel. In this episode Eugenia and Gerri talk about what they thought of the innovations that came with this show, the interesting Canadian texture that was brought to the show and what it takes in the 21st Century for a show to make it on TV! They interview Ryan Robbins, who plays Henry Foss, the geeky tech wiz and a Lycanthrope. Ryan has been in many Sci Fi and Fantasy shows, he has an impressive IMDB. Eugenia and Gerri would like to thank Oz Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com and Blue Planet PR www.blueplanetpr.com.au for the interview with Ryan.
