Best of the Best
The British are very good at keeping a television show alive for a long time look at Doctor Who and many other soaps and programs that stay around for many years. But in the world of British geekdom there is another iconic program and that is Red Dwarf. One of the funniest Sci Fi comedies that you can watch now on the air for 25 years! In this episode you may just find Gerri getting her geek out big time and even Eugenia can’t blame her. Gerri and Eugenia talk about Red Dwarf and the heart and soul of the show Dave Lister, played by none other than Craig Charles who they interview this episode. Find out about his passion for the show and why he keeps going back to play “Dave”. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank (really, really thank) Scott and Diana Liston from First Contact Conventions, www.firstcontactconventions.com.au and Annabel from Roadshow Entertainment http://roadshow.com.au/tv/comedy.aspx (where the DVDs come from) for giving Gerri one of the biggest geek outs since doing this podcast when they interviewed Craig Charles.
In this episode Eugenia and Gerri cover about 70 years of Science Fiction from Doctor Who to Farscape to Stargate with the only actor (well as far as our research shows) that has participated in three of the longest running Sci Fi shows over three continents! Farscape an Aussie Sci Fi show deserves to be watched by so many more Sci Fi fans. With the use of Jim Henson’s puppetry, its strong characters, and how the puppets seemed like real characters with actors bringing them believably to life. Ben Browder talks about how he wanted to work with Jim Henson’s company, loved working on Farscape, his move to Stargate and Doctor Who! Wow Ben Browder could be every Sci Fi fans ultimate actor! Thanks go to Oz Comic Con’s Carissa, Rand, and Maggie from www.ozcomiccon.com.
They did it again! Women Talk Sci Fi went to the Australian Premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness! Now they say that it is not a World Premiere but they got to see it first so they are more than happy! In this episode Eugenia and Gerri are on the Red Carpet in the Media Bay so not only did they get to see the Stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, JJ Abrams and many more walk past but did they get to interview some of them as well? Eugenia and Gerri will give you some insight in what it is like to be at a premiere with some commentary from them and they get to chat to some fans who are also hanging on the red carpet waiting to catch a glimpse of some of the stars. They also talk about the film, discussing what they liked and maybe you will hear a little on what they thought of some of the surprises from the movie “No spoilers sweetie” of course!!! In answer to the question did Eugenia and Gerri get to talk with some of the Stars and others on the red carpet well yes they did! So have a listen to Georgina Haig who was in episodes of Fringe, Penelope Austin who composed and sings the song that is in the movie, Karl Urban the wise cracking Bones, JJ Abrams Director extraordinaire and Captain Kirk himself Chris Pine! You may even find out why Eugenia was a little excited to be on the red carpet and why! Yes it could be a little corney but funny! Thanks to Paramount Australia www.paramountpicturesaustralia.com.au and Gabby and Rachel from Way to Blue PR www.waytoblue.com for giving us this great opportunity! So listen and then go out and by a ticket to watch the movie! www.startrekmovie.com.au . You will not regret it.
Every one of us has wished we had a special power like telepathy, telekinesis or precognition (the winning numbers in the lottery?). In this podcast Eugenia and Gerri explore the world of tele-powers from My Favourite Martian, 4400, X-Men, Warehouse 13, Star Trek and more discussing the pros and cons of having those powers. Their interview in this podcast is with Rainbow Sun Francks who plays Dev Clark in The Listener, a series about a paramedic who can read minds, Rainbow is also known to many of you as Lt Aiden Ford from Stargate: Atlantis. Eugenia and Gerri thank Jason and Darren from Gifts for the Geek www.giftsforthegeek.com.au for the opportunity to interview Rainbow.
In this episode Gerri and Eugenia discuss Warehouse 13 and the world of Pete, Myka, Claudia and Arnie! This series has a winning formula that allows it to take an object from any time, any place and any person in history and do a story about them. A cross between Indiana Jones, cop shows, a "who-dun it", with the odd supernatural mix. It has wizards, secret societies, mythology, government secrets, inventions and the world of art to name a few! But is it fun? Heck yeah! The show never takes itself seriously and Pete the "everyman" gives all of us those pop culture references that shows he is just like us and loves all of it as well! Gerri and Eugenia think that that he is a geek! To their delight that is who they interview in this podcast the funny and whacky Eddie McClintock. Not only is he a great actor but he is also a graphic designer and he sells his art on is website www.eddiemcclintock.com Have a look. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank Oz Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com and Blue Planet PR www.blueplanetpr.com.au for the chance to spend some time with the wonderful funny "Pete" from Warehouse 13.
