Best of the Best
In this podcast Eugenia and Gerri discuss how mainstream TV and movie awards do not seem to want to recognise the genres of Sci Fi and Fantasy, why? So, in this episode they look at movies of James Bond, Mission Impossible and Austin Powers and more and explain why they should be classed as Sci Fi rather than just Action or Comedy movies. Why does Sci Fi get such a bagging from the movie and television awards community see of you agree with their thoughts on the issue. They have an interesting interview with David Faustino (yes “the” Bud Bundy) who talks about his time as a child star, his friendship with Corin Nemec and his role as Mako in The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra, yes even though it is manga it is Sci fi. They thank their friends Jason and Darren from Gifts for the Geek www.giftsforthegeek.com.au for the interview.
Every now and again there is what may be called an “epic” movie and in recent times there has been not only one but a whole series of epic movies! Made in Gerri and Eugenia’s neighbouring country of New Zealand, they are of course, The Lord of the Rings trilogy! In this episode they talk about the movies, who really was the “hero” and of course that magnificent country, New Zealand. So, of course they are discussing the Lord of the Ring movies and they also get to talk with the amazing Sean Astin, who played Samwise Gamgee. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank the crew from OZ Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com for allowing them to interview Sean.
Finally, a big action movie for the beloved little action figures of G.I. Joe. Join Channing Tatum (Hawk), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord) and Rachel Nichols (Scarlett) as they take time out from fighting the evil Cobra Command to talk to Women Talk Sci Fi.
In this podcast Gerri and Eugenia have not one but two interviews from one of their favourite shows Stargate Atlantis. They are none other than David Nykl who played Dr Radek Zelenka and the ‘Chucknician’ himself Chuck Campbell. Stargate Atlantis has not lost its charm and continues to be watched my millions all over the world. Was its run cut too short, could it have lasted a few more seasons? Listen to Gerri and Eugenia give their opinions about the show and their thoughts about the characters Zelenka and Chuck the Technician. They give their thanks to Gifts for the Geek www.giftsforthegeek.com.au and The Hub Productions www.thehubproductions.com and for the opportunity to interview David and Chuck.
In this episode Eugenia and Gerri cover about 70 years of Science Fiction from Doctor Who to Farscape to Stargate with the only actor (well as far as our research shows) that has participated in three of the longest running Sci Fi shows over three continents! Farscape an Aussie Sci Fi show deserves to be watched by so many more Sci Fi fans. With the use of Jim Henson’s puppetry, its strong characters, and how the puppets seemed like real characters with actors bringing them believably to life. Ben Browder talks about how he wanted to work with Jim Henson’s company, loved working on Farscape, his move to Stargate and Doctor Who! Wow Ben Browder could be every Sci Fi fans ultimate actor! Thanks go to Oz Comic Con’s Carissa, Rand, and Maggie from www.ozcomiccon.com.
