Best of the Best
Farscape, what a show? How many of you have watched this Australian show? Well, Gerri and Eugenia are proud to say “Made in Australia”, this is a show that breaks the mould in the use of Muppets! Well not Muppets but animatronics, done so well that you actually see the characters as real and find that you invest them with feeling and reality and the show is full of fun, suspense and damn good action! We had black and white, red and blue skin, tentacles coming from the head and even a ship that was a sentient being! Jim Henson’s Creature workshop was able to create characters that were multi-layer as well as a few “nut-jobs”, action heroes and some more really, really nutjobs! In this podcast Gerri and Eugenia get to talk with one of the actors from the series none other than Gigi Edgley who played Chiana, the black and white alien who may be classed as one of the nutjobs! Gigi now hosts Brian Henson’s show, “Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge” where you get to see how animatronics are made and used in movies and TV. Gerri and Eugenia would like to thank Gigi for the interview, catch her at her website www.gigiedgley.com, Facebook https://www.facebook.com/gigiedgley.fanpage?fref=ts and on twitter @GigiEdgley.
Eugenia and Gerri have met a milestone with this their 100th episode. So, what have they done to celebrate this milestone? They have lined up some special interviews so that you can celebrate with them! The focus of this episode is Star Trek: DS9 and yes it is what it is on the label and they have interviews for you from the icons of DS9. Avery Brooks, aka Captain Benjamin Sisko (thanks go to www.firstcontactconventions.com.au ), Nana Visitor aka Colonel Kira Nerys, Max Grodenchik who played Rom, Grand Nagus of Ferenginar and Aron Eisenberg, Nog, the first Ferengi to go to the Star Fleet Academy (our thanks for these interviews go to Oz Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com .) So, join them in this celebration of both Star Trek: DS9 and their 100th episode and keep listening for more interviews as they work towards their 200th!
In this episode Eugenia and Gerri talk about the hero! Heroes such as Robin Hood and King Arthur ignite our imagination allowing us to take part in stories where “might” is fought and good wins! Stories such as these have inspired us for thousands of years and television and film, have since their invention given us many interpretations of these stories! Eugenia and Gerri talk about the variations over the years and how film and program makers can at times sanitise history and the violence, this may be fairly serious subject, but they don’t talk about it for long because they have three interviews from such shows with Alfie Allen, Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones, Tom Hopper, Sir Percival From Merlin and Mark Ryan from Robin of Sherwood, armour, swords and arrows who could want more? They would like to thank Daniel and Lionel from www.supanova.com.au www.lionelmidfordpublicity.com for Tom and Alfie and www.armageddonexpo.com/nz/ for Mark’s interview.
We all remember Saturday morning when we watched cartoons! Our parents happy we were occupied and able to get a sleep in! Cartoons have played a big part in the entertainment that we remember from our youth and of course many of us tried to do the voices of those characters we love! How many can do the Woody the woodpecker laugh or the Bugs Bunny’s “What’s up Doc” and more. Well in this podcast Gerri and Eugenia talk about what has become the branch of acting that they are most enamoured with “voice acting”! Gerri and Eugenia always say that when the interview these actors it feels like they are interviewing a roomful, of the funny, entertaining and talented! In this episode they have again three of what maybe some of the most famous voices from your favourite cartoons, Sponge Bob, Jimmy Neutron and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. These are of course Debi Derryberry, the voice of Jimmy, Rodger Bumpass, the voice of Squidward Tentacles and Rob Paulsen the voice of the original Raphael and now Donatello in the latest incarnation of the show! Cowabunga Dude. They would like to thank Oz Comic Con www.ozcomiccon.com for their interviews with Debi Derryberry and Rob Paulsen (who also does a podcast called “Talkin Toons” www.robpaulsenlive.com check it out!) and Culture Shock Events www.cultureshockevents.com for the interview with Rodger Bumpass. Gotta love those toons!!!
Finally, a big action movie for the beloved little action figures of G.I. Joe. Join Channing Tatum (Hawk), Sienna Miller (The Baroness), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord) and Rachel Nichols (Scarlett) as they take time out from fighting the evil Cobra Command to talk to Women Talk Sci Fi.
